Had an amazing interview that I had with the Boundless TCG. This game I have followed for an extremally log time, and I really like the resource system. Which are spirits in which collect into your cards, that allows the cards to gain additional abilities. It's a lot of fun if you have not checked it out yet.
DESCRIBE YOUR GAME?
A multiplayer spirit-slinging experience where players reach their fullest potential in a battle for control over the distant planet, Adyta! Choose a Savior to fight by your side, unleash Commands to further your strategy, construct an army of Forms for your Spirits to inhabit and watch as your power soars to new heights! Base set Kickstarting in November 2023.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE GAME’S NAME?
Boundless is a very lore-intensive game. Just about everything from the characters to the game’s internal mechanics are attached to an element, or multiple elements, of the main storyline, including the game’s name! Essentially, the name “Boundless” derives from the all-powerful Golden Diamond, a pivotal artifact within the game’s lore. You can read up on Boundless lore through our various social media pages!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON YOUR GAME?
Boundless has been in development since late 2021. Original game concepts were designed in August, our first art was commissioned in October, and preparations for our first crowdfunding campaign began in November of that year!
What makes your game different from other TCGs?
As a long-standing fan of TCGs, it’s safe to say I’ve experienced my fair share of card games. In doing so, I’ve gained an extensive knowledge of what mechanics work out well and feel good versus the ones that don’t. The overall design of Boundless is like an well-practiced orchestra of those mechanics that worked well and felt great, with the main difference coming from the resource of the game: Spirits. Spirits are such a unique resource system. Unlike typical mana sources, Spirits are placed underneath the player’s cards, unlocking access to different abilities and allowing the player to perform certain actions with that card.
WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAD IN CREATING THIS GAME?
Creating the game, surprisingly, was the easiest part. The most difficult challenge was getting the name out there. A large amount of games were born from the effects of the 2020 pandemic, so the market (as we entered in) was oversaturated. Becoming noticed by the many shifting eyes in the market was a struggle for our small team and even caused the other 2 members of our early development team to abandon the project, which left me with the decision to carry or to drop the torches. I like to say I’ve done well as a one-man-band given the circumstances. We’ve got a thriving community that continues to grow and a consistent stream of new products and media with even more on the way. If you haven’t yet, come and join us!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CARD IN THE GAME?
Ignistag; hands down. Although those in the community may say “Ghula’a, the Necromancer” is a very close second with the amount of times I build decks around her.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR YOUR GAME?
Our next step is the release of Epic Battle Box 02, the second installment of our dual starter deck line of products. The Mega Genesis Kickstarter drops afterwards in November. In Q2 2024, EBB03 is projected to be released alongside Legendary Guardians: Galactic Traveller, our first small side set, and after that is the release of our second booster set, Malevolent Blast! The future is bright for Boundless TCG!
AS A CREATOR, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO ARE TRYING TO PURSUE THEIR DREAMS?
It may sound cliche, but NEVER give up. There were a significant number of times where I thought I couldn’t take it, where throwing in the towel seemed like the only logical option, just for everything to turn around. Strive for the best. Listen to constructive criticism. Take the little wins and run with them but, as I always say, it isn’t a race; it’s a marathon. And most important of all: Stay Boundless!!
